Role purpose

In this role you will act as a subject matter expert, helping Accelya develop, automate and improve our on-prem and public cloud enterprise storage and data protection strategies.


The Lead Storage and Data Protection Engineer will also be responsible for helping to develop and document policies, standards and operational procedures, as well as helping develop other engineers in the team.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • effective data security strategies and controls to protect sensitive and confidential information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction
  • planning based on business demands
  • performance and connectivity related issues
  • proactive support for enterprise storage and backup solutions by ensuring all monitoring, alerting, and security standards are maintained
  • as a ‘Level 3’ escalation point for storage and data protection issues
  • to a rotating on-call program for critical storage and data protection escalations
  • and maintain, the backup, replication, & archival policies aligning to our global commitments
  • and leading projects as required
  • support for our storage and data protection environments


Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • strong understanding of protecting workloads in VMware Cloud on AWS
  • problem-solving skills, plus strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • ability to articulate thoughts and ideas, and a passion for seeing them to fruition
  • Experience automating administration and monitoring of storage and backup systems
  • managing Rubrik and NetBackup solutions
  • with cloud and tape-based archive technologies, principles, and best practices
  • years of experience and a deep understanding of Storage technologies such as PureStorage & NetApp. Experience of Dell/EMC VMAX, VNX, Unity and DataDomain is beneficial
  • knowledge of storage-related connectivity protocols and technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Block, NFS, SMB, Brocade SAN fabric management)
  • with boot from SAN will be beneficial as this is used in one part of the enterprise
  • with technologies such as Terraform, Ansible or Grafana is a plus
