Role Summary:

The Placement & Employer Engagement Officer will work directly under the Vice President of the Corporate Resource Centre. The role's primary focus is to establish and maintain strong connections between the university, employers, and students, facilitating internship and job opportunities. The role is responsible for building relationships with industry professionals and potential employers to create successful placement opportunities for students. This includes effective communication with students, organizing career development events, and ensuring students are well-prepared for job placements.

Job Characteristics:

This position requires a proactive individual with a passion for supporting students in their career journeys and fostering strong, meaningful partnerships with employers. The ideal candidate should be results-driven, have strong networking capabilities, and be committed to helping the institution maintain a high standard in employer engagement and placement services.

Key Responsibilities:

Employer Relations:

  • Lead Generation: Identify new companies and reach out to them for internships, final placements, and other engagement activities, ensuring continuous engagement throughout the student lifecycle.
  • Database Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of corporates, placement Points of Contact (POCs), CXOs, CHROs, and other key employer contacts.
  • Networking: Build strong relationships with senior professionals, such as CHROs, functional leaders, and CXOs, to generate placement opportunities for students.
  • Enhance Placement Value: Focus on bringing top brands to campus, aiming for higher salary packages and improving Year-on-Year (YoY) increases in median salary offerings.
  • Employer Engagement: Develop and maintain lasting relationships with existing and new employers.
  • Event Organization: Plan and execute employer networking events, job fairs, and recruitment drives to connect students with potential employers.
  • Agreement Negotiations: Negotiate placement and internship agreements with employers to ensure mutually beneficial terms.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry and economic developments to enhance outreach efforts and placement effectiveness.

Employer Engagement Strategy:

  • Engagement Strategy Development: Create strategies to enhance employer engagement and increase the institution's visibility in the job market.
  • Representation: Represent the university at career fairs, networking events, and industry conferences to promote student placement opportunities.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep up-to-date records of employer engagement activities and student placement statistics.

Reporting & Evaluation:

  • Placement Tracking: Monitor and report on placement rates, employer feedback, and student success stories.
  • Outcome Analysis: Analyze placement outcomes and provide recommendations for process improvement based on insights gathered.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience: Proven experience in career services, recruitment, or student outreach roles (preferably in a university or educational institution).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of current job market trends and employer expectations.
  • Strong professional network with familiarity of local, national, or international job markets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data management and PowerPoint for presentations.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to analyze placement data and improve processes.
