Job Description :


You will be responsible for leading a team of COBOL developers, developing, maintaining, and modernizing critical business applications.

You will also play a key role in ensuring excellent communication and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities :

- Lead and mentor a team of COBOL developers, providing technical guidance and support.

- Develop, maintain, and enhance existing COBOL applications using Microfocus tools (e.g. Visual COBOL, NetExpress).

- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new COBOL applications.

- Work collaboratively with business analysts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Identify opportunities for application modernization and lead modernization efforts.

- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex COBOL application issues.

- Utilize version control tools (e.g.Git) to manage code changes.

- Document code and technical processes.

- Participate in knowledge transfer activities and train junior developers.

- Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management, both verbally and in writing.

- Manage team workload and ensure project deadlines are met.

- Stay up-to-date on the latest COBOL development trends and technologies.

Qualifications :

- 5+ years of experience as a COBOL developer.

- Proven experience leading and mentoring a development team.

- In-depth knowledge of Microfocus COBOL development tools (e.g.Visual COBOL, NetExpress).

- Strong understanding of COBOL programming language syntax and best practices.

- Experience with user interface technologies relevant to COBOL applications (e.g. CICS, BMS).

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficient in code versioning tools (e.g. Git).

- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
