Position Objectives:

To use your practical veterinary skills to alleviate animal suffering, tend to emergency cases, and improve animal welfare through counselling the local community under the guidance of a senior veterinarian

Reports To:

Senior Veterinary Officer / Team Leader

Location:

Maharashtra (either Satara or Pandharpur)

There will be regular travel to all operational areas in the state.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

·      Assist the senior veterinary officer, the clinical quality assurance manager, and the veterinary trainer with routine services provided by the emergency team and animal welfare assistants including follow-ups

·      Schedule independent and team field visits and attend clinical cases, record treatments, and enter them into a database

·      Maintain and manage the stock of medicines, - instruments, biomedical waste disposal, and handling and storage of veterinary equipment as per Standard Operating Procedure

·      Participate in regular clinical audits to ensure quality care

·      Assist the senior veterinary officer with training animal welfare assistants on applied animal welfare, standards of animal management and care, first-aid, and minor treatment services

·      Assist the senior veterinary officer with interacting with various stakeholders from the local community to improve their animal welfare practices

·      Assist the senior veterinary officer with enhancing the skills of local external and junior veterinarians

·      Enhance the quality of major and minor treatment services available to animals through various local sources

·      Help the team employ effective and efficient community engagement to influence animal welfare

·      Assist the senior veterinary officer with developing and maintaining good public relations with partners, government offices, local bodies, and other key stakeholders as required

·      Act on behalf of the senior veterinary officer with respect to all day-to-day activities in his or her absence

·      Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

·      Bachelor's degree in veterinary science and animal Husbandry from a reputed veterinary institute

·      Master's degree in veterinary sciences preferred

·      Recent veterinary graduates preferred

·      Excellent presentation and documentation skills

·      Ready to register under the Maharashtra State Veterinary Council or Uttar Pradesh State Veterinary Council

·      Excellent information technology skills

·      Good communication skills in Hindi, Marathi, and English preferred

·      Compassion and commitment to animal welfare and to the objectives of the organisation
