This role will focus on ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability of databases that support mission-critical applications.What we are looking for?SQL Development: 8+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Developer supporting enterprise-level applicationsT-SQL Mastery: Expert in writing complex queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers using T-SQLLegacy Optimization: Skilled in analyzing and refactoring legacy stored procedures for performance and maintainabilityDatabase Design: Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable, normalized database architecturesData Modeling: Proficient in relational modeling, normalization, and schema evolutionPerformance Tuning: Experienced in identifying and resolving bottlenecks using tools like SQL Profiler and Extended EventsCollaboration: Comfortable working closely with .NET/API teams to ensure cohesive integration between app and DB layersCommunication: Able to explain complex database concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesAgile Practices: Experience in Agile/Scrum teams, participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and code reviewsAI-Enhanced Development: Familiar with using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for documenting SQL code, suggesting optimizations, and generating boilerplate scriptsAdditional Skills for Legacy Monolithic ApplicationsLegacy Refactoring: Experience breaking down monolithic SQL codebases into modular, maintainable componentsDatabase Decoupling: Skilled in isolating shared schemas and stored procedures into bounded data contexts for microservicesData Integrity Strategies: Knowledge of maintaining data consistency during modernization and migrationChange Management: Experienced with schema migration tools and rollback processes to support safe transitionsSQL in CI/CD: Familiar with versioning and automating database changes using tools like Flyway, Liquibase, or SSDTOptional SkillsExperience with Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed InstanceFamiliarity with DevOps scripting and automation toolsExperience designing data access layers with Entity Framework or DapperNice to HaveExposure to the Azure ecosystem beyond SQLUnderstanding of event-driven/distributed systems and how they interact with relational databasesExperience with replication, sharding, or partitioning strategies in large-scale environments
