The Position

Reporting Manager: - Associate Director, Project Construction

Job Summary

The person will be responsible for overseeing the civil design & construction aspects in all capex projects from concept to completion. This role requires ensuring that projects civil aspects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Project Construction Management

• Civil construction management of project involving quantity surveying, costing, planning, scheduling, progress monitoring & quality control.
• Preparation of all required documents for new contractors/work contract agreements & follow up with our legal dept. for further action/approval
• Oversees engineering and technical design of civil engineering projects such as infrastructure and building, in coordination with external consultants.
• Liaising with architect's engineers, contractors to monitor construction progress, resolve issues and ensure compliance with specification and quality standards
• Oversee project budgeting and cost control for civil scope and manage change orders to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
• Conducting regular site inspections to assess project progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with Project Manager and stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns and foster strong working relationships.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, building codes and safety regulations in the Indian context (Codes such as IS-1200 for measurement, IS-456 for concreate, IS-10262 for concreate mix design)
• HSE compliance & daily monitoring at site to achieve Zero incident/ Zero Harm target
• Co-ordination, monitor & manage capital projects civil scope from concept to closure.
• Ensure civil aspects of all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Risk Management:

• Identifying, assessing and mitigating risks that could impact the project.
• Critical thinking & identification of the risks during early stage of the project lifecycle & take proactive steps to mitigate or avoid them.

Procurement Management:

• Procurement of resources such as services, materials, or equipment.
• Civil contractor & vendors selection & evaluation based on their ability to meet project needs, reliability, and financial stability.

Budget & Cost Management:

• Preparation of cost review reports, invoicing plans & cost book plans on monthly basis.
• Constantly tracking expenses and ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented or cutting unnecessary costs to stay within the budget.
• Forecast future financial needs and ensure stakeholders/management are kept informed of budgetary changes or risks.

Stakeholder Management:

• Communicate project status, risk & issues to stakeholders including clients, senior management
• Coordinate with internal & external stakeholders.

Scheduling, Monitoring & Control:

• Prepare overall schedule of the civil scope of projects based on milestones.
• Ensure all design and engineering activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
• Obtain necessary permits and approvals for projects.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Prepare regular project reports including progress updates, financial status & risk assessment register.
• Maintain comprehensive project documents.

The Person

Educational Background:

• Civil & Structural Engineer with 15 - 18 years of experience in civil & structural site construction in chemical plants.
• Bachelor of Civil Engineering graduated from reputed university.

Knowledge Levels:

• General Awareness: Fundamental understanding of concepts.
• Working Knowledge: Broad job knowledge, capable of applying a full range of concepts and practices in day-to-day activities.
• Functional Expert: Certified expert with strong knowledge of concepts.
• Mastery: Subject matter expert with command over the subject/concepts.

Personal Characteristics:

• Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
• Proficient in verbal and written communication.
• Strategic thinker and result-driven doer, capable of understanding business needs, providing strategic support, finding solutions, and implementing good ideas.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
