Role Description


This is a hands-on role and not a managerial position. The Principal Software Engineer is expected to have a broad and deep skill set, combining technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strategic vision. Here’s a list of core skills typically required for this role:


1. Technical Expertise

  • Advanced Programming Skills: Mastery in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Software Architecture & Design: Expertise in designing complex, scalable, and maintainable software architectures.
  • System Design: Ability to design distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Database Management: Proficient in both SQL and NoSQL databases, including optimization and scalability strategies.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps practices, including automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Performance Optimization: Ability to diagnose and optimize software performance at scale.
  • Security Best Practices: In-depth understanding of software security principles and practices.



2. Leadership & Mentorship

Team Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor software engineering teams, including setting technical direction and ensuring code quality.Technical Mentorship: Experience in mentoring and developing the technical skills of junior and mid-level engineers.



3. Problem Solving & Critical Thinking

Complex Problem Solving: Strong ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative, practical solutions.Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex systems and processes into manageable parts and understand the underlying principles.



This is a full-time on-site role for a Principal Software Engineer at Numeral in Hyderabad. The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for rearchitecting our core systems, setting engineering culture, bring best practices of software development from their past experience. The role involves working on advanced financial automation solutions to streamline processes like revenue recognition and cash reconciliation.
