Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mainframe Developer with proficiency in CICS, JCL, and COBOL to join our team in Kochi. This role will involve application and software development on mainframe platforms, including hands-on work with batch processing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation and high-performance execution. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of mainframe technologies, and the ability to contribute effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Mainframe Development : Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and JCL.

- Batch Processing : Develop, implement, and optimize batch processing jobs, ensuring they meet business requirements and performance standards.

- Debugging and Troubleshooting : Analyze and resolve issues related to batch jobs, applications, and mainframe systems. Work closely with other teams to identify root causes and propose solutions.

- Performance Tuning : Identify opportunities for optimizing existing applications and processes for improved performance and resource utilization.

- System Integration : Work on the integration of mainframe systems with other platforms and technologies to support seamless data exchange and workflow.

- Testing and Quality Assurance : Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of mainframe applications to ensure the highest quality of deliverables.

- Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and other developers, to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within scope.

- Documentation : Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation related to application code, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

- Continuous Improvement : Stay updated with new technologies and industry trends, continuously improving skills and practices to drive innovation within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Experience : 4 to 14 years of professional experience as a Mainframe Developer.

Mandatory Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming language.

- Proficiency in CICS (Customer Information Control System) for transaction processing.

- In-depth knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) for creating and managing jobs on the mainframe.

- Experience with batch processing and developing/optimizing batch jobs in a mainframe environment.

Technical Proficiency :

- Strong experience with mainframe platforms (IBM z/OS, MVS, etc.).

- Ability to design, develop, and test applications using COBOL, JCL, and CICS.

- Solid understanding of database systems, particularly DB2 or VSAM, and their interaction with mainframe applications.

- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to analyze complex problems and design solutions for scalability, reliability, and performance.

- Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders, clients, and team members.

Additional Skills (Desirable) :

- Experience with REXX or SQL would be a plus.

- Experience with Agile methodologies.

- Knowledge of automation tools for mainframe operations.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Relevant certifications or additional training in mainframe technologies is a plus.
