Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Insurance claims management: Oversee the administration of all insurance claims and related inquiries. This includes frequent communication with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors, brokers, claimants, or their representatives, as well as relevant departments. Handle sensitive interactions with distressed or aggrieved claimants both in person and over the phone. Generate correspondence on complex issues and provide detailed reports and advice to senior management when needed.
  • Claims settlement negotiation: Manage the settlement of all material loss claims, such as theft, major fires, and fidelity guarantees. Consult with the Insurance Manager and Assistant Director - Treasury Services as necessary.
  • Claims/loss data maintenance: Maintain and enhance the computerized claims/loss recording system. Develop data for effective risk analysis and decision-making.
  • Professional advice: Provide expert advice to members, senior management, and various departments on insurance practices and laws. Prepare comprehensive reports and advisory notes as required.
  • Industry awareness: Collaborate with the Insurance Manager to attend relevant meetings and seminars on insurance developments. Inform senior management about key changes affecting the industry and their implications for the organization.
  • Risk management support: Assist in advancing the organization's risk management processes. Actively promote the value of risk management by participating in related working groups or committees.
  • Training and briefing: Conduct training and briefing sessions for staff at all levels to enhance understanding and compliance with insurance and risk management practices.
  • Claims procedure review: Regularly review claims processes in collaboration with insurers and brokers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Third-party recoveries: Handle recoveries from third parties where applicable.
  • Performance reporting: Provide quarterly performance metrics to the Assistant Director - Treasury Services and Director of Finance in line with agreed standards.
