We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Technical Lead/ Architect to lead the design and evolution of our cloud-based platform. You will be a technical visionary, shaping the overall architecture, technology choices, and engineering practices that drive our platforms performance, scalability, and reliability.


Responsibilities:


Architecture Leadership:

  • Define and communicate a clear architectural vision for the platform, aligned with business goals and industry best practices.
  • Lead the design of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-based solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to continuously improve the platforms capabilities.
  • Establish architectural principles, guidelines, and standards to ensure consistency and maintainability across the platform.


Technical Design & Review:

  • Collaborate with development teams to translate architectural designs into concrete implementation plans.
  • Conduct design reviews and code reviews to ensure adherence to architectural principles and quality standards.
  • Guide the optimisation of distributed systems for performance, throughput, and fault tolerance.


Platform Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Develop and maintain a long-term roadmap for the platforms evolution, identifying key areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise initiatives and align the roadmap with business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the platform remains competitive and cutting-edge.


Mentorship & Thought Leadership:

  • Serve as a technical mentor to other engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Share your expertise through presentations, workshops, and documentation.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of leading the architecture of complex systems.
  • Architectural Expertise: Deep understanding of architectural patterns, design principles, and best practices for building scalable and resilient systems.
  • Cloud Architecture: Extensive experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and cloud-native architectures.
  • Microservices: Proven ability to design and implement complex microservices architectures using Java, Spring Boot, and message brokers like Kafka.
  • Distributed Systems: Mastery of distributed systems concepts, such as CAP theorem, consistency models, and messaging patterns.
  • Observability: Familiarity with ELK stack or similar tools for logging, monitoring, and tracing.
  • Communication & Leadership: Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate technical teams.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align architectural decisions with long-term business goals.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with other JVM languages (Kotlin, Scala)
  • Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Track record of public speaking or writing on technical.
