Job Summary:

The National Head - Category Management for Fruits and Vegetables will oversee the strategic direction and management of the category, ensuring alignment with SMART Greens' business objectives. This role is responsible for driving category growth, managing P&L, and leading a team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing agricultural products, demonstrated financial acumen, and strong leadership skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement category strategies for Fruits and Vegetables, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities to drive category growth and competitive advantage.
  • P&L Management:
  • Manage the P&L for the Fruits and Vegetables category, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Optimize cost structures and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of category managers and support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including suppliers and distributors.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and maintain supply chain integrity.
  • Analytical Oversight:
  • Utilize data-driven insights to guide category decisions and strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess category performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Innovation and Development:
  • Drive innovation within the category by introducing new products and services that meet market demands.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to ensure the category remains competitive.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Revenue Growth: Achievement of revenue and profitability targets for the Fruits and Vegetables category.
  • P&L Performance: Effective management of the P&L, including achieving budgeted margins and cost controls.
  • Market Share: Growth in market share within the category.
  • Team Performance: Achievement of team goals and individual performance metrics.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback and successful collaboration with key stakeholders and partners.


Functional Competencies:

  • Category Management: Deep understanding of category management principles and best practices, particularly in Fruits and Vegetables.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to drive informed business decisions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including negotiation and contract management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in category management, with a strong background in managing agricultural products such as Fruits and Vegetables. Candidates with experience in Dairy Products, FMCG Products, or Staples will also be considered.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
  • Skills: Proven track record in P&L management, team leadership, and stakeholder management. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills are essential.
