What we are looking for

Role: DB2 Application DBA

Experience Range: 6 – 12 Years

Location: Chennai/Kolkata/Hyderabad

Must-Have:

1. 6+ years of professional experience in Mainframe DB2 administration
2. DB2 object management (databases, table spaces, tables, indexes)
3. Data maintenance expertise (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, RUNSTATS)
4. DB2 performance monitoring (health check jobs, Imagecopy, Runstats, DDL/DML reports)
5. DB2 space management and monitoring
6. Experience with DB2 utilities (COPY, REORG, RUNSTATS, QUIESCE)
7. SQL optimization and performance tuning
8. BIND/REBIND plan and package management
9. End-to-End Release management
10. Test environment setup and data refresh

Good-to-Have

Technical Expertise:

1. DB2 for z/OS
2. Mainframe operating system (z/OS)
3. JCL, TSO, ISPF
4. REXX or other mainframe scripting languages

Desirable:

1. Certification in Mainframe DB2 administration (IBM Certified Database Administrator)
2. Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
3. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible)

Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role :

• Database Administration: Install, configure, and manage DB2 databases on mainframe (z/OS) and distributed platforms (LUW), ensuring high availability and performance.
• Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor DB2 database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize database configuration, SQL queries, and indexing for optimal performance.
• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve DB2-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.
• Data Management and Security: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements, implementing access controls, encryption, and backup/recovery procedures.
• Capacity Planning and Optimization: Analyze usage trends, plan for future capacity needs, and optimize database resources to ensure scalability and performance.
• Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks, such as backups, data migration, and space management, using tools like REXX, Python, or Ansible.
