We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Ruby on Rails Web Development (SSE-RoRWD) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing compelling media-rich Web 2.0 applications utilizing Saranyu's Cloud-based OTT Video/TV platform. This role involves the entire software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, and testing of Web 2.0 applications for both desktop and mobile environments with a strong focus on user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). Additionally, the SSE-RoRWD will ensure the reliability, performance, uptime, SEO, and scalability of our web applications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, implement, and test Web 2.0 (Ruby on Rails based) applications for desktops and mobile devices.

- Focus on creating a superior user interface and user experience.

- Ensure the reliability, performance, uptime, SEO, and scalability of web applications.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

- Maintain code quality, organization, and automation.

- Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.

- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.

- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.

- Implement performance management using NewRelic, Web Page Test tools.

- Utilize REST APIs Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science (BE / BTech), or a Master's in Computer Applications (MCA).

Experience :

- 2 to 5 years of general software engineering experience.

- At least 2 years of Ruby on Rails programming experience.

- Extensive experience in web development using the Ruby on Rails framework.

- Thorough understanding of the philosophy and design of Ruby on Rails.

Required Skills :

- Proficiency in desktop publishing technologies: HTML5, xHTML, CSS.

- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and JavaScript libraries: jQuery, Plugins, etc.

- Experience with Unix and Linux systems.

- Proficiency in relational databases: SQL, etc.

- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails frameworks such as Active Record.

- Experience with servers: Nginx, Mongrel, Webrick.

- Understanding of performance management tools like NewRelic, Web Page Test tools.

- Knowledge of SEO rules, minification, and Rails asset pipelines.

- Experience with REST APIs.

Highly Preferred Experience :

- Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, and EBS).

- Knowledge of NoSQL databases: MongoDB, memcached, CouchDB.

- Proficiency with version control systems: Git, SVN.

- Proactive and resourceful, capable of achieving tasks with minimal oversight.

- A team player with the ability and desire to become an integral part of a fast-paced team.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel.
