The Performing Arts – Theatre Educator is responsible for planning, designing, and delivering engaging theatre and drama experiences that nurture creativity, self-expression, collaboration, and critical thinking among students. The role involves facilitating theatre-based learning through performance, storytelling, role-play, and stagecraft, aligned with the IB philosophy of inquiry and holistic education. The incumbent will collaborate with other Performing Arts faculty (Music and Dance), classroom teachers, and programme coordinators to create integrated learning experiences and school productions.Plan and deliver theatre lessons that foster creativity, confidence, collaboration, and communication among students. Design age-appropriate units and activities aligned with IB learning outcomes and transdisciplinary themes. Introduce students to various aspects of theatre including acting, scriptwriting, stage movement, voice modulation, and improvisation. Support students in conceptualizing and performing plays, skits, and assemblies both within and outside the classroom. Guide students in understanding stagecraft elements such as lighting, costumes, sets, and sound design. Facilitate reflection and inquiry in theatre practices, encouraging students to connect performance to real-life contexts and cultures. Collaborate with teachers across disciplines to integrate performing arts into classroom learning and projects. Plan and coordinate school performances, annual day productions, and inter-school theatre events. Maintain theatre equipment, props, costumes, and ensure readiness of performance spaces. Provide constructive feedback and support to students during rehearsals and performances. Maintain lesson plans, student records, and assessment documentation in accordance with school and IB standards. Participate actively in professional development, departmental meetings, and school-wide cultural initiatives. Promote inclusivity, creativity, and respect through theatre as a medium for self-expression and empathy.3–6 years of teaching or performing arts experience, preferably in an IB or progressive school setting. Demonstrated expertise in theatre pedagogy, stage direction, and performance-based learning. Strong understanding of integrating arts into inquiry-based and interdisciplinary curriculum frameworks. Excellent communication, classroom management, and creative facilitation skills. Ability to mentor students for stage performances and school cultural programs. Collaborative mindset, passion for the arts, and commitment to nurturing young performers.
