About the Role :
We are looking for a Linux System Software Engineer with a solid background in Linux internals, system-level programming, and low-level debugging. The ideal candidate will work on developing, optimizing, and maintaining system-level software components across embedded Linux and Android platforms.
You'll be involved in designing efficient system-level solutions, solving real-world performance bottlenecks, debugging complex issues across kernel/user space, and automating test and build flows for scalable deployment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain system-level software involving process management, threading, synchronization primitives (mutex, semaphores, etc.), inter-process communication (IPC), and signal handling.
- Design and implement modules for memory management, process scheduling, and resource optimization within embedded or Android-based Linux systems.
- Perform advanced debugging using tools like GDB, strace, perf, valgrind, etc.
- Profile CPU, memory, and I/O usage across different layers to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance.
- Triage issues from field reports or QA teams and replicate them in-house on various DUTs (Devices Under Test).
- Work with Yocto, Android AOSP build systems, Make, CMake, or Automake to manage software builds.
- Develop or enhance tools for build automation, test execution, and deployment pipelines.
- Write and maintain white-box test scripts using Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.
- Automate test execution on devices (e.g., EVT, DVT, PVT, EVK, etc.) and analyze results.
- Develop utilities to automate repeated developer or test workflows.
- Debug hardware-software issues in embedded platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware teams during bring-up and validation phases.
- Validate peripherals and system-level features through systematic triaging and logging.
Must-Have Skills :
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and Bash scripting
- In-depth understanding of Linux internals (process/thread management, memory, IPC, filesystems)
- Hands-on experience with Linux system debugging tools
- Experience with Git and working in a multi-branch development model
- Strong problem-solving and triage skills
