Key Responsibilities:
- Exchange 2019 Administration: Oversee the management and support of the on-premises Microsoft Exchange 2019 environment, including database management, DAG (Database Availability Group) monitoring, and backup/restore operations. Perform regular health checks, monitor performance, and ensure the availability and reliability of the Exchange environment. Configure and maintain hybrid Exchange environments, ensuring seamless mail flow and directory synchronization between on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online using Azure AD Connect. Monitor and troubleshoot mail flow issues and configure Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) to secure the email infrastructure.
- Hybrid Environment Management: Support the hybrid configuration of Exchange, including managing connectors, ensuring proper federation, and troubleshooting hybrid mail flow issues. Participate in migration projects, assisting with the migration of mailboxes from on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hybrid deployments to ensure minimal disruption to end users.
- User Support and Troubleshooting: Provide Level 2 support for escalated email-related issues from the help desk or end users, including problems with Outlook connectivity, mobile device access, and mail flow. Use diagnostic tools and logs to troubleshoot and resolve issues within both on-premises and online Exchange environments. Collaborate with L3 engineers or external vendors for complex issues requiring advanced expertise.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of the Exchange environment, including configurations, processes, and procedures. Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, knowledge base articles, and best practice documents for L1 and help desk teams. Generate and analyze reports on email usage, performance metrics, and security incidents.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong experience with Microsoft Exchange 2019 administration, including DAG, transport rules, and server maintenance.
- Proficiency in managing Exchange Online (Office 365) and utilizing PowerShell scripting for automation and advanced configurations.
- In-depth knowledge of hybrid Exchange configurations, including Azure AD Connect, ADFS, and the Exchange Hybrid Configuration Wizard.
- Familiarity with Exchange Online Protection (EOP), spam filtering, and email security best practices.
- Experience with email migration tools and processes, particularly for transitioning from on-premises to cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex email-related issues across hybrid environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with end users, IT teams, and management.
- Ability to document technical processes and create user-facing documentation.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Exchange Server 2019 Administrator
- Microsoft Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate (Office 365)
