The role involves defining, managing, and monitoring batch job schedules usingBMC Control-M on IBM z/OS systems . The ideal candidate will ensure efficient and reliable job execution across business-critical enterprise workloads while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support smooth IT operations. Key Responsibilities Job Scheduling & Management Create, configure, and maintain job scheduling definitions usingControl-M for z/OS . Define calendars (regular, periodic, rule-based) andSMART tablesfor effective job execution. Manage job dependencies, prerequisites, conditions, and system resources. Monitoring & Troubleshooting Monitor job executions and handle scheduling conflicts or failures. UtilizeControl-M MonitorandCMEM (Control-M Event Manager)to track active jobs and exceptions. Perform root cause analysis and provide timely resolution of job issues. Automation & Optimization ImplementNew Day processingand automate job submission workflows. ApplyAutoEdit variablesto dynamically update JCL at runtime. Continuously optimize job schedules to improve efficiency and system performance. Collaboration & Support Partner withapplication teams, DBAs, and system programmersto align schedules with business needs. Provideon-call supportfor job scheduling issues and job failures. Assist in change management and deployment activities related to Control-M. Documentation & Compliance Prepare and maintain documentation for job definitions, scheduling rules, and procedures. Ensure adherence tocompliance, audit standards, and organizational best practices . Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge ofControl-M for z/OS, JCL, and mainframe batch processing . Proficiency with IOA components such asCMEM, AutoEdit, and SMART Tables . Experience: 3–7 years of hands-on experience injob scheduling and workload automationon mainframe platforms. Experience withControl-M utilities and troubleshooting tools . Soft Skills: Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills . Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications BMC Control-M certificationor equivalent formal training. Experience working inlarge-scale enterprise environmentswith complex and critical batch workflows
