Job Description: Subject Matter Expert: IC3 Sparks Certification Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop high-quality instructional content for an IC3 Sparks certification course. The SME will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to create engaging, accurate, and standards-aligned learning materials

This role will involve designing and standards-aligned instructional assessment items that help students build confidence and competence in digital tools, computing fundamentals, and online safety.

Topics and Concepts Covered in the Course:

● Operating System Basics

● Common Computer Terminology

● Types of Devices

● Computer Software and Applications

● Computer Features and Commands

● Word Processing

● Slide Deck Presentations

● Browsers

● Digital Communication

● Digital Citizenship

● Secure Online Communications

● Using Search Engines

Key Responsibilities

1. Subject Matter Expertise:

○ Write clear, accurate, and engaging lesson content aligned to industry standards and learning objectives.

○ Ensure technical accuracy with age-appropriate language and pedagogy. 2. Instructional Design and Development:

○ Write and design engaging course materials that translate technical concepts into accessible language for learners.

○ Incorporate examples, activities, and checks for understanding.

○ Develop lessons in the client's learning management platform.

3. Collaboration and Feedback:

○ Collaborate with other instructional designers, the client's educators, and stakeholders to ensure the course is relevant and impactful.

○ Revise content based on feedback from the team.

○ Work as a productive team member of a part of the global, cross-functional team.

Qualifications

Required:

● Familiarity with K–12 digital learning environments (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365).

● Experience in technical writing or curriculum development.

● Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely for educational purposes.

● Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

● Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. Finance, Economics, Education, Accounting).

● IC3 Certification (Spark, GS5/GS6) or similar credential (e.g., Google Certified Educator, Microsoft Certified Educator).

Preferred:

● Experience working within the K-12 education sector, particularly in curriculum design and development, or content review.

● Prior experience in digital literacy education and developing content for career readiness, CTE, or STEM education programs.
