Job Overview:

We are in search of a talented and versatile Garment Merchandiser cum Designer to join our team. This role combines the responsibilities of a merchandiser and a designer, requiring a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the fashion industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development and production of garments from concept to delivery, ensuring they meet both creative vision and market demands.


Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate with vendors on price, discount, delivery, and working terms.
  • Identify business opportunities by finding new vendors or product ideas for clients.
  • Manage client/vendor relationships, including disputes and claim issues.
  • Consistently work with existing vendors based on new product offers.
  • Review, analyze, and select a new vendor base.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and guide vendors in innovation as per client needs and the latest trends.
  • Monitor production process to meet quantity, order specifications, and delivery dates.
  • Diagnose production problems and work with vendors to present alternatives to clients.
  • Work with vendors to improve on-time delivery/vendor scorecard.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as MIS / Shipping, Technical, QA, Finance, and Administration to ensure a smooth workflow for order follow-up.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Textiles, or related field.
  • Proven experience in garment merchandising, design, or production management, preferably in the apparel industry.
  • Strong design skills with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design software.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, pattern-making, and technical specifications.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written), including the use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality and aesthetics.
  • Passion for fashion and a deep understanding of market trends and consumer behavior.
