Description :Role Overview :We are seeking an experienced API Testing Lead to join our quality assurance team in Chennai.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automated API testing and experience leading testing efforts in an agile environment.Key Responsibilities :Develop and Execute API Test Strategies :- Design and implement comprehensive API test plans to ensure service reliability.- Collaborate with development teams to understand API functionalities and integration points.Test Automation and Execution :- Develop automated test scripts using tools like Postman, RestAssured- Execute automated and manual test cases, analyze results, and report defects.Team Leadership :- Lead and mentor a team of API testers, providing guidance and ensuring high-quality deliverables.- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate API testing into the CI/CD pipeline.Quality Assurance :- Ensure the robustness and scalability of APIs by performing rigorous testing under various conditions.- Identify, document, and track bugs to resolution, ensuring high standards of quality.Documentation and Reporting :- Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, scripts, and results.- Generate reports to provide actionable insights on API performance and stability.Must-Have Skills :1. API Testing Expertise :- Proficient in designing and executing API test cases for RESTful and SOAP services.- Candidate must have deep understanding of Page Object Model- Should be working on RestAssured with Java only. Any other combination doesn't work.- Good understanding of REST API types (GET, PUT, POST, DELETE) and its working.- Must be 100% focused on doing API Testing.2. Problem-Solving Skills :- Description : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues in APIs and suggest solutions.3. Git Experience :- Proficient in using Git for version control. This is a mandatory ask and also very common.4. Manual Testing :- Should be good with manual testing as well as automation. Our expectation is for Automation tester to run the manual tests so they understand flow and functionality and then build the automation scripts.5. Continuous Learning and Upskilling :- Description : Commitment to staying updated with the latest API testing trends and tools.Good to Have Skills :1. CI/CD Integration :- Knowledge of integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, etc.- At the least should be aware of this and how it works, even if not hands-on.2. Additional Knowledge Areas :- SQL (rate on SQL)- Web security and how it is exploited- Knowledge of how to make testing scalable (ref:hirist.tech)
