Job Overview :


We are seeking a skilled Backend Database Engineer with 4-8 years of experience to join our Team. In this role, you will be e responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support our trading systems and financial services platforms, leveraging your expertise to drive improvements and innovations.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement database schemes, models, and structures that support high-performance trading systems and financial services applications.

- Analyze and optimize database performance to ensure low-latency and high-throughput operations critical to trading environments.

- Develop and maintain processes for data migration, transformation, and integration, ensuring data integrity and consistency.

- Provide ongoing support for database-related issues, including debugging and resolving performance bottlenecks and errors.

- Implementation and managing of monitoring tools to track database health, performance, and security. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including backups and disaster recovery.

- Ensure databases are secure, comply with industry standards, and adhere to best practices for data protection and privacy.

Qualifications :

1. Database Technologies :

- Relational Databases: Proficiency in SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

- NoSQL Databases: Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.

- Data Warehousing: Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.

2. Programming Languages :

- Proficiency in backend languages like Python, Java, C++, or Scala.

- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automation and data manipulation.

3. Performance Optimization :

- Skills in database tuning, query optimization, and indexing.

- Experience with high-throughput and low-latency systems.

4. Data Modeling :

- Expertise in designing and implementing complex data models.

- Knowledge of schema design, normalization, and denormalization techniques.

5. Version Control and CI/CD :

- Experience with version control systems like Git.

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.

Industry Specific Knowledge :

- Financial Markets and Trading Systems.

- Understanding of algorithmic trading, financial markets, and trading strategies.

- Knowledge of financial instruments (stocks, options, futures, etc.) and their data requirements.

- Real-time Data Processing:

- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies.

- Knowledge of systems that handle high-frequency trading (HFT) and low-latency data.

Experience :

Project Experience :

- Proven experience working on large-scale, high-performance systems.

- Experience in building and maintaining robust, scalable database systems.

Problem Solving :

- Track record of solving complex database issues and implementing solutions for performance improvements.

Education :

Degree Requirements :

- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is typically required.

- Advanced degrees or certifications related to database management or finance may be advantageous.

Certifications (Optional) :

1. Database Certifications :

- Certifications in specific database technologies or platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).

2. Financial Certifications :

- Certifications like CFA or CFP may be beneficial, though not always required.
