This platform brings pet health, vet services, grooming, boarding, e-commerce and community together into a single, intelligent experience. Our ambition is to build the most helpful, trusted, and delightful pet ecosystem for pet parents and service partners across India.

We're hiring a Backend Engineer who loves building robust, production-grade systems. This role is for someone who enjoys architecting APIs, thinking end-to-end about reliability and scale, and shipping features that real users love. You won't be doing narrow, isolated tasks — you'll own critical backend systems that power bookings, payments, collar telemetry ingestion, medical records, and marketplace workflows.

What you'll own (Responsibilities)

• Architect, design and implement scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices that drive PetYosa's core flows (vet bookings, petBNB, orders, payments, FitYosa telemetry ingestion).
• Build data models and database schemas (Postgres / Mongo) optimized for performance and operational simplicity.
• Implement robust authentication, authorization, payments integrations, audit trails and secure data handling for medical/health data.
• Design and operate data ingestion pipelines for FitYosa devices (telemetry, location, analytics) ensuring durability and near-real-time processing.
• Implement caching, queueing and backpressure strategies (Redis, message brokers) to keep the system performant under load.
• Ship observability (structured logs, metrics, traces) and create runbooks for common operational scenarios.
• Write production-quality tests, CI/CD pipelines, and support release management and incident response.
• Collaborate closely with product, mobile, AI and hardware teams to translate product requirements into reliable backend systems.

Must-have (What we expect from you)

• 2–4 years building production backend systems with Node.js (TypeScript) and frameworks like Express/Nest.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB: schema design, indexing, query optimisation.
• Practical knowledge of caching (Redis) and message queues (Kafka / RabbitMQ / SQS).
• Cloud experience (GCP or AWS) — deploying services, setting up infra, and managing costs.
• Familiarity with Docker and basic orchestration concepts (Kubernetes experience is a plus).
• Practical understanding of security best practices: tokens, encryption in transit/at rest, OWASP risks.
• Track record of owning features end-to-end and shipping in a fast, iterative environment.
• Clear communicator who can work in an in-office, collaborative team.

Bonus points (Nice to have)

• Experience with telemetry / IoT ingestion pipelines and time-series data.
• Experience building marketplace platforms, payment flows or health-tech systems.
• Knowledge of GraphQL, event sourcing, or CQRS patterns.
• Hands-on experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Published projects, open-source contributions, or prior startup experience.
• You love pets — and can tell us one thing you've done to make life better for yours.
