Job Description :


Responsibilities :

- Managing and maintaining our SQL Server landscape across production and non-production instances

- Performing daily checks to ensure databases consistency & reliability.

- Installation, implementation & maintenance for MS SQL Server 2016.

- Releasing SQL code to the different environment; QAT, UAT, XAT (pre-production) & Production.

- Monitoring the Production system and assisting in troubleshooting & remediation.

- Providing access to Production servers via the defined break-glass process.

- Running an-hoc SQL queries.

- Providing technical expertise to project teams when required.

- Monitoring the DBA ServiceNow queue and actioning requests as they come in.

- Any other duties as required.

Communication :

- To concisely report to the DBA manager regarding progress of any work being undertaken.

- Working with development teams (and other areas of Technology) to identify and remediate problems with TSQL queries and stored procedures.

- Representing the Team to the Business and other senior stakeholders, in the absence of the Team Lead, and or during Priority incidents

- Inform immediate management of any risks to our systems as soon as they become apparent.

Technical Knowledge :

The ideal candidate will have a strong grounding in the following technical areas :

- Microsoft Windows Operating System

- T-SQL

- SSIS & SSRS

- SQL replication

- Failover clustering

- Backup & recovery technologies

- Monitoring applications

- SQL Server Always On (preferred)

- SAN Storage (preferred)
