Failed Part Analyst

Key Responsibilities:
Failure Investigation:
- Investigate parts or components that have failed during testing, production, or in the field.
- Collect, document, and organize failure data for analysis and reporting.
- Conduct detailed visual, mechanical, and sometimes chemical analysis to determine failure modes.
Root Cause Analysis:
- Use tools and techniques like Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fishbone diagrams, and 5 Whys to determine the underlying causes of part failures.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to correlate failure data with production processes.
Data Collection & Reporting:
- Gather relevant data from production, quality control, and field reports.
- Prepare and present reports on findings, including trends, potential risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure that failure analysis results are accurately documented and comply with industry standards and company procedures.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent future failures.
- Assist in the development of improved processes, materials, or designs to enhance part performance.
Improvement Recommendations:
- Provide data-driven recommendations for process improvements, material changes, or design modifications to reduce the occurrence of part failures.
- Assist in creating and reviewing inspection standards to improve part reliability and quality.
Preventive Measures & Quality Control:
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions taken and provide feedback for further refinement.
- Participate in the development of preventive maintenance or testing schedules to identify potential part issues before they affect production.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure all failure analysis activities comply with industry regulations, company quality standards, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in audits related to failure analysis.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is typically required. A Master's degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in quality control, failure analysis, or a related field, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Hands-on experience with failure analysis tools and techniques (e.g., FMEA, root cause analysis, non-destructive testing).
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using failure analysis tools and software.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.
- Familiarity with industry standards, such as ISO, and quality control processes.
Preferred Skills:- Experience with specific industries like automotive, aerospace, or electronics.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience in statistical analysis or data modeling
