Role : Product Engineer - Backend

We at Indepay , Setara Networks are here to revolutionize the Indonesian payment ecosystem by introducing one click checkout services in order to make transactions zero-fee, instant, and rewarding for the consumer.

On one side we're working with financial institutes to enable real-time account to account transfers through our platform, and on the other-side we're giving consumers a reliable and secure payment experience which is better than anything else they've experienced in the Indonesian ecosystem.

Integration with 42 Banks and growing :

We've seamlessly integrated our direct debit platform with various source of funds issued by 42 banks, demonstrating our commitment to creating a well-connected financial ecosystem for our onboarded users.

Strategic Partnership with Telco Network :

We acquire customers through telco partnerships, encouraging them to link their source of funds (bank account, debit/credit cards or wallets) to their mobile numbers. This integration will enable instant payment and settlement within our merchant network, providing a smooth user experience.

We are looking for an impact-oriented Product Engineer who is passionate about building polished, high performing payment experiences and excited to grow our consumer adoption across Indepay's payment systems.

What your current role should be like :

- Backend Development Expertise : Working on large-scale, distributed backend systems.

- Scalable Architecture & System Design : Designing systems that can scale and are reliable, ensuring a robust infrastructure to meet high availability needs.

- Microservices Development : Experience in building and deploying microservices with a strong emphasis on clean, reusable, and scalable code.

- Real-time Data Processing : Managing and optimizing systems for real-time data processing and transfer in a fintech or consumer-facing environment.

- API Development & Integration : Working with RESTful APIs, Open Banking APIs, and third-party integrations to facilitate seamless transactions and secure data exchange.

- Database Management : Proficiency in SQL databases (preferably: PostgreSQL) to maintain data consistency and optimize for high-velocity transactions.

- Automation & CI/CD : Implementing CI/CD pipelines and working with automation tools to streamline the deployment and monitoring process.

- Security Best Practices : Strong focus on security, especially in handling sensitive financial data, adhering to industry compliance standards.

What will you do?

- Technical Leadership : Provide technical direction, architecture design, and code reviews to ensure quality, scalability, and security of backend services.

- Team Management : Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

- Project Management : Oversee project planning, prioritization, and delivery, ensuring timely and quality deployment of features.

- Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams, to align on project goals and deliverables.

- Optimization : Continuously improve system performance, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and efficiency.

- Growth and Development : Recruit, onboard, and develop top backend engineering talent, conducting regular 1:1s, goal setting, and performance evaluations.

- Hands-On Coding : Step in with hands-on coding when necessary, particularly for critical projects and code reviews.

What do you have?

- Experience : Stable tenure with 3-5 years of experience in backend development with a minimum of 1 years in a leadership role, ideally within a fintech or product-based startup. Experience as an individual contributor, having delivered a project from inception to end-consumer launch.

- Technical Expertise : Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, and experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems.

- Database Knowledge : Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

- Cloud and DevOps : Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and familiarity with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).

- Leadership Skills : Proven ability to inspire and lead a team of engineers, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Problem-Solving : Strong analytical skills and experience in solving complex, high-scale engineering problems.

- B. Tech/ M. Tech from a premier institute.

- Have built and managed critical systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams globally.

- Have recruited and developed high-talent teams.

- Willingness to work in-office, 5 days a week from Gurgaon.
