Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced DataPower and APIC Administrator with 6-9 years of hands-on experience in managing and configuring IBM DataPower and API Connect (APIC) solutions. This role involves working with both on-premises and cloud (AWS/GCP) environments, and the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing DataPower and APIC platforms, ensuring their seamless integration, performance, and security across hybrid infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
- DataPower Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM DataPower Gateway instances (physical and virtual) in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS/GCP).
- Configure and manage DataPower to optimize API management, security policies, web service management, and integration with applications.
- Administer and troubleshoot DataPower appliances for high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and failover configurations.
- Integrate DataPower solutions with cloud-native services, ensuring scalability and fault tolerance.
- API Connect (APIC) Management:
- Configure, administer, and monitor IBM API Connect (APIC) environments, including the management of API Gateways, API Lifecycle, and API Analytics.
- Implement and configure API policies in API Connect for traffic management, security, and routing.
- Manage the deployment and scaling of API Connect components in both on-prem and cloud infrastructures.
- Work with developers to implement API security, rate limiting, authentication, and authorization policies using API Connect.
- Cloud Integration:
- Deploy and manage DataPower and APIC in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), ensuring proper configuration and optimal performance for cloud-native applications.
- Migrate on-premises DataPower and APIC instances to cloud environments, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
- Leverage cloud services (e.g., AWS Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch) to extend DataPower and APIC functionalities in the cloud.
- Automate provisioning, scaling, and monitoring of DataPower and APIC solutions in the cloud using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Security and Compliance:
- Configure security policies, SSL/TLS, WS-Security, and other encryption standards in DataPower and APIC.
- Implement role-based access control (RBAC), OAuth, JWT, and other authentication/authorization mechanisms within both DataPower and APIC.
- Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for API management and integration.
- Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting:
- Monitor the performance of DataPower and APIC platforms, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations.
- Troubleshoot production issues related to API performance, DataPower configurations, and integration challenges.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery (DR) setups, implementing failover and load balancing for critical systems.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, infrastructure, security, and development) to design, implement, and improve API and integration solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation for DataPower and APIC environments, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and architectural diagrams.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior team members on best practices for managing DataPower and APIC solutions.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Required Skills:
- 6-9 years of experience as an IBM DataPower Administrator and API Connect Administrator.
- Hands-on experience with IBM DataPower Gateway (versions 7.x and above) in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS/GCP).
- Expertise in IBM API Connect (APIC) configuration, management, and monitoring, including API Gateway, API Lifecycle Management, and API Analytics.
- Strong knowledge of API security protocols (OAuth, JWT, SSO, API security policies).
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration for DataPower and APIC instances.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), including deploying and managing cloud-based DataPower and APIC solutions.
- Knowledge of API Management, microservices, and SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) for automation and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying DataPower and APIC in containerized environments.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) for DataPower and APIC.
- Ability to design and implement CI/CD pipelines for API deployments and updates in both on-prem and cloud environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-native API management services (e.g., AWS API Gateway, Google API Gateway).
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
