The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in migrating large-scale databasesspecifically from MySQL to PostgreSQL. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of data structures, migration tools, performance tuning, and must be able to work in a fast-paced project environment.Key Responsibilities :- Lead the end-to-end data migration process from MySQL to PostgreSQL (~800GB of data).- Design and implement data migration strategies ensuring data integrity, consistency, and minimal downtime.- Analyze existing MySQL schemas and map them effectively to PostgreSQL.- Optimize and tune PostgreSQL for performance post-migration.- Identify and resolve migration-related issues such as datatype mismatches, stored procedures, and triggers.- Work closely with DevOps, DBAs, and application teams to validate the migration process.- Create detailed documentation of the migration process, validation steps, and fallback mechanisms.- Support post-migration testing and ensure system stability.Required Skills & Qualifications :- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in database management and migrations.- Proven experience in migrating large datasets (~800GB or more) from MySQL to PostgreSQL.- Strong knowledge of SQL scripting, database performance tuning, and schema conversion.- Familiarity with tools like pgLoader, AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, or custom migration scripts.- Good understanding of database design, indexing, replication, and backup/restore strategies.- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications :- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) with database services.- Familiarity with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.- Experience in handling production-level migrations with zero/low downtime.Why Join Us?- Opportunity to work on a high-impact, large-scale data migration project.- Collaborative and fast-paced work environment.- Competitive salary and performance-based growth.
