Senior Prep Artist

We are seeking a Senior Prep Artist to join our team and help bring our VFX projects to life. In this role, you’ll be responsible for executing high-quality prep and roto tasks to support our VFX pipeline. As a Senior Artist, you will work closely with the VFX team to ensure seamless integration of visual elements. You will play a key role in shaping the final look of shots and ensuring that the prep work is of the highest standard.

Responsibilities:

• Perform rotoscoping, prep, and other technical tasks to prepare plates for compositing and visual effects work.
• Work closely with VFX supervisors, leads, and artists to deliver high-quality results on time.
• Help lead and mentor junior prep artists, providing guidance and support where needed.
• Ensure all work is completed according to the project’s specific requirements and artistic vision.
• Troubleshoot and solve complex challenges during the prep phase.
• Ensure the quality of your work meets the studio’s standards, with attention to detail and efficiency.
• Assist in developing and refining workflows and techniques within the prep process.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in prep, roto, or related VFX roles.
• Experience working in a live-action VFX environment.
• Proven ability to work with complex roto and prep tasks, with high attention to detail.
• Strong proficiency with industry-standard software such as Nuke, Silhouette, Mocha, or equivalent.
• A thorough understanding of the VFX pipeline and how prep work integrates into compositing and final rendering.
• Lead experience is preferred, including mentoring or guiding junior team members.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
• A passion for VFX, with a strong desire to contribute to a creative, dynamic team.

Bonus Skills:

• Knowledge of Maya, Houdini, or other 3D software is a plus.
• Experience with CG integration and advanced shot prep.
