Job Type: Hybrid (WFO 3 Days a week)

Notice: 30-45 days


Note: This position will be on a payroll at Progton Software Private Limited, Bangalore and client with be HCL.


Role Overview:


The Packing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the packaging and deployment of software applications and updates across our Windows 10/11 and Windows Server environments. This role requires extensive experience with packaging tools and technologies, particularly Chocolatey, as well as proficiency in scripting and automation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of packaging principles, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage and optimize deployment pipelines.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Software Packaging & Deployment:
  • Design, create, and maintain packages for various software applications using Chocolatey and other packaging tools.
  • Ensure the accurate and efficient deployment of software packages to Windows 10/11 and Windows Server environments.
  • Develop and implement packaging standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Automation & Scripting:
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate packaging, deployment, and configuration tasks.
  • Develop and manage automation workflows using GitHub Actions to streamline the build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Version Control & CI/CD:
  • Utilize GitHub for version control of packaging scripts, configuration files, and deployment automation workflows.
  • Configure and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure smooth and reliable software releases.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Work closely with development, QA, and IT teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for packaging processes, deployment procedures, and automation workflows.
  • Monitoring & Optimization:
  • Monitor the performance and reliability of packaging and deployment processes, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement and manage tools for monitoring and reporting on packaging and deployment activities.
  • Support & Troubleshooting:
  • Provide technical support for packaging and deployment-related issues, including diagnosing and resolving problems as they arise.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of support requests related to software packaging and deployment.


Required Skills & Qualifications:


  • Experience with Packaging Tools:
  • Proven experience in software packaging, with hands-on expertise in Chocolatey.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Solid understanding of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server environments.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration tasks.
  • Version Control & CI/CD:
  • Experience with GitHub for version control and managing code repositories.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions for automating build, test, and deployment workflows.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software packaging, deployment, or a related role.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certifications related to Windows Server or packaging tools.
  • Experience with other packaging tools and deployment automation platforms.
