Job Purpose:

The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing new product strategies for procuring components for cooling systems, heat exchangers, and thermal solutions. The role requires managing supplier relationships, achieving customer deliverables, and leading technological solutions for full system integration in industrial cooling solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


Customer & Product Requirements:

  • Support R&D in managing customer requirements for rolling stock, off-highway, and industrial cooling solutions.
  • Perform technical feasibility of RFQ/SOR and communicate requirements with suppliers post R&D approval.
  • Assist R&D in technical sign-off based on SOR.
  • Exhibit exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Monitor activities like demand planning, forecasting, supplier capacity, new part development, and inventory management.
  • Lead sourcing plans, vendor evaluation, and development.

Regular Procurement and Timely Supplies:

  • Oversee regular procurement activities to ensure the timely supply of materials required for ongoing production.
  • Manage supplier relationships to maintain a consistent flow of necessary components and materials.
  • Ensure that procurement processes are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues that may affect supply timelines or quality.
  • Coordinate with production teams to understand supply needs and adjust procurement plans accordingly.

Resource and Budget Planning:

  • Conduct cost analysis and set benchmarks.
  • Understand BOM parts through cross-functional interactions with R&D and Production.
  • Prepare and manage program development budgets.
  • Conduct risk assessments for suppliers and develop countermeasures for failure modes.
  • Coordinate between R&D, plant, and supplier teams for timely component development.
  • Negotiate with vendors and perform cost comparisons.
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies to achieve organizational goals.

Technical Program Execution:

  • Develop sources for new product parts.
  • Manage cost estimation and costing of products, including various commodities.
  • Exhibit knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead new part development for commodities like sheet metal and heat exchangers.
  • Oversee global procurement and vendor development for critical items.
  • Control product costs through monitoring raw material costs, conversion costs, and other factors.

SOP and Handover to Plant:

  • Align with plant industrialization before SOR.
  • Support PPAP documentation and ensure process validation.
  • Validate parts at suppliers and resolve issues.
  • Document lessons learned.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering (Must)
  • M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
  • Experience:
  • 6 to 8 years in Heat Exchanger and Industrial Cooling Systems (Preferred)

  • Experience in full production development lifecycle, vendor development, negotiation, BOM costing, commodity localization, cost reduction, project management, and global sourcing (Must)
  • Program Management:
  • Ability to understand technical issues and make data-driven decisions (Must)
  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge:
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, prototypes, and purchasing (Must)
  • Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills (Must)
  • Program Execution:
  • Experience in handling full program cycles from RFQ to SOP (Must)
  • Software Proficiency:
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Able to understand 2D drawings and GD&T (Must)
  • Design/Analysis Tools and Process Awareness:
  • Awareness of design and analysis processes for product development (Preferred)
