We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Engineer to join our team. The DFM Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring that our drone and UAV designs are optimized for efficient and high-quality manufacturing. This position requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design principles to bridge the gap between design and production.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Optimization: Collaborate with design engineers to ensure that drone and UAV designs are optimized for manufacturability, considering factors like tolerances, materials, and assembly methods.
  • Prototype Evaluation: Oversee the testing and validation of prototypes to ensure they can be effectively manufactured.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications and manufacturing instructions.
  • BOM Management: Develop and manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) that align with production requirements and capabilities.
  • Quality Control: Establish and maintain quality control standards to ensure products meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure alignment and smooth transition from design to manufacturing.


Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies relevant to drone and UAV production.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software and design optimization tools.
  • Knowledge of materials science and engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in a DFM role, preferably in the aerospace or robotics industry.
  • Proven track record of optimizing designs for manufacturability and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to create and manage detailed technical documentation and BOMs.
