Job Description:

  • We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated GCP Data Engineer to join our team immediately. This is a remote opportunity working in the Australian time zone, supporting one of our key clients in the retail industry.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud-based data engineering with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform, Azure Databricks, and DBT (Data Build Tool). The role requires working with large-scale datasets (structured and unstructured), including retail offline (store sales) and online (e-commerce) data, as well as PII-sensitive information.
    • Key Responsibilities:
    • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on GCP
    • Work with Azure Databricks to support data engineering and ML workflows
    • Build and manage DBT models for data transformation and quality checks
    • Handle structured and unstructured data using modern cloud data stack
    • Implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with data privacy standards (e.g., PII handling)
    • Collaborate with data scientists to productionize machine learning models
    • Integrate and analyze data from various retail sources (in-store POS and e-commerce)
    • Monitor and optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and reliable data solutions
      • Required Skills & Qualifications:
      • 5–9 years of overall experience in data engineering
      • Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services
      • Experience working with Azure Databricks for data processing
      • Hands-on experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) in production environments
      • Experience with secure coding practices and handling PII data
      • Solid understanding of retail industry datasets (offline and online channels)
      • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data pipeline orchestration tools
      • Experience working with unstructured data (logs, media, text, etc.)
      • Knowledge of data science concepts and ability to support/productionize ML models
      • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
        • Preferred Qualifications:
        • Experience working in Australian or international client environments
        • GCP Professional Data Engineer certification is a plus
        • Familiarity with BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, etc.
        • Knowledge of Airflow/Cloud Composer for orchestration
