Overview :

The Project Manager - Agile is responsible for managing and delivering projects using Agile methodologies. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile practices, particularly Scrum, and the ability to use tools like JIRA and Confluence to manage project tasks, track progress, and facilitate communication among team members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Agile Project Management :

- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects using Agile methodologies, primarily Scrum.

- Facilitate the Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

- Ensure the team is following Agile principles and practices to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

2. Sprint Planning and Execution :

- Define and prioritise the product backlog and prepare for sprint planning.

- Guide the development team in estimating the effort required for backlog items and planning sprints accordingly.

- Monitor and track sprint progress, ensuring that the team remains focused on achieving the sprint goals.

3. Stakeholder Communication :

- Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications with stakeholders, including customers, management, and cross-functional teams.

- Provide regular updates on project status, risks, issues, and changes to stakeholders.

- Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and the development team to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

4. Risk and Issue Management :

- Identify and manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation plans to address them proactively.

- Escalate critical risks and issues to the appropriate stakeholders and work with them to resolve roadblocks.

- Track and communicate changes in project scope, schedule, and costs to ensure stakeholder awareness.

5. Tool Utilisation :

- Utilise JIRA for project tracking, backlog management, and sprint planning.

- Maintain project documentation, including meeting notes, decision logs, and project plans, in Confluence.

- Use Agile metrics, such as burn-down charts and velocity reports, to monitor team performance and project progress.

6. Team Leadership and Development :

- Lead and mentor the development team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

- Support team members in understanding and implementing Agile practices, providing coaching as needed.

- Facilitate conflict resolution and ensure a positive, productive work environment.

7. Continuous Improvement :

- Regularly assess the effectiveness of Agile practices within the team and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Implement process improvements and best practices to enhance team performance and project outcomes.

- Encourage the team to experiment with new approaches and tools to increase efficiency and innovation.

8. Resource Management :

- Allocate resources effectively, balancing team capacity with project demands to meet deadlines.

- Coordinate with other teams and departments to secure necessary resources and support for the project.

9. Quality Assurance :

- Ensure that project deliverables meet the defined quality standards and acceptance criteria.

- Work with the team to implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices to improve product quality.

- Facilitate regular code reviews, testing, and user feedback sessions to maintain high quality standards.

10. Cultural Awareness and Global Collaboration :

- Promote cross-cultural understanding and collaboration, ensuring that team members, stakeholders, and clients from different cultural backgrounds feel respected and included.

- Be sensitive to cultural differences and work styles when managing teams from different geographies, including the UK.

11. Business Environment Knowledge :

- Demonstrate an understanding of the UK's business landscape, particularly in industries relevant to the company's projects and clients, ensuring that the project goals align with the broader business objectives.

- Familiarity with UK-specific regulations, compliance standards, and work ethics is highly beneficial.

12. Client-Centric Approach :

- Ensure that project deliverables meet the expectations of UK-based clients by tailoring Agile processes to suit local market needs and client-specific requirements.

- Adapt communication and reporting styles to align with UK stakeholders' expectations, ensuring transparency and clarity in project status and progress updates.

13. Effective Remote Communication :

- Proven experience in working across time zones and managing remote teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

- Utilize collaboration tools effectively to bridge communication gaps and maintain alignment with the UK team and clients.

14. Company Mission & Vision Alignment :

- Demonstrate commitment to the company's mission and vision by ensuring that all project outcomes support the strategic goals of both the employer and its clients.

- Proactively engage with the leadership team to understand and integrate the company's long-term objectives into day-to-day project management activities.

Key Skills And Qualifications :

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Certified ScrumMaster) is a plus.

- Experience: 8+ years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years of experience in managing projects using Agile methodologies.

- Agile and Scrum Expertise: Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices, with hands-on experience in Scrum.

Tool Proficiency :

- JIRA: Proficient in using JIRA for backlog management, sprint planning, issue tracking, and reporting.

- Confluence: Experience in using Confluence for documentation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.

- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in managing and resolving complex project issues.

- Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks effectively.

- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, with a continuous learning mindset.

- Risk Management: Experience in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating project risks to ensure successful delivery.
