Overview:The Mainframe MQ Admin plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability and efficiency of the Mainframe Messaging Queue (MQ) infrastructure. They are responsible for overseeing the administration configuration and troubleshooting of the Mainframe MQ environment ensuring seamless communication and data exchange across the organizations mainframe systems. The Admin collaborates closely with crossfunctional teams to address technical issues and optimize the performance of Mainframe MQ.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer Mainframe MQ infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain MQ objects channels and related components.
  • Ensure smooth message flow and data transfer across mainframe systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for MQrelated issues.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation and monitoring of MQ activities.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate MQ with other systems.
  • Monitor and optimize MQ performance addressing bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Implement security and access controls for MQ resources.
  • Provide 24/7 oncall support and incident management for MQ environment.
  • Conduct regular audits and maintenance to ensure MQ system stability.
  • Document MQ configurations processes and best practices.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for MQ.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in Mainframe MQ administration.
  • Collaborate with vendors for issue resolution and enhancement of MQ environment.
  • Lead and participate in MQrelated projects and initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mainframe MQ administration.
  • Proficiency in Mainframe technologies including z/OS and JCL.
  • Strong understanding of MQ concepts architecture and principles.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving MQrelated issues.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as REXX PERL or Python.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to monitor and tune MQ performance for optimal operation.
  • Experience in incident management and oncall support for MQ environment.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and access controls for MQ.
  • Ability to document configurations processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning for MQ.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Certifications in Mainframe or MQ administration (e.g. IBM Certified System Administrator MQ).
  • Ability to lead and contribute to MQrelated projects and initiatives.
