About the Opportunity :
Ellucian is looking for a talented Senior Engineer experienced with Reporting stack (IBM Cognos, eVisions and Opentext Actuate), AWS and Infrastructure to write tools, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for strategic initiatives. The Engineer will need to balance cost constraints, design best practice, uptime, security, and their experience in critical, 24x7 customer environments.
Where you will impact :
- Deliver high uptime and a consistent experience for our customers
- Deliver tools and automation, focused on contractual SLAs and internal SLOs
- Gain advanced knowledge of Ellucians in house toolchain for CI/CD, DevFinOps, and lifecycle management
- Take ownership of individual deliverables to include code, documentation, runbooks, and operational handoff
- Design, document, develop, test, and deploy automation in close collaboration with other teams
- Create measurable cost optimization results while balancing availability and best practices
- Possesses the tenacity to delve to the root of the issue quickly, understand why it happened, and prevent it in the future
Act as a mentor for Cloud Engineer colleagues by :
- Providing leadership expertise for new standards and best practices
- Participating as a subject matter expert on process improvement; and training & tool development
- Be the subject matter expert for assigned specializations by providing technical leadership and technical engineering expertise
What will you bring :
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in reporting stack on administration activities such as IBM Cognos, eVisions, Opentext Actuate.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a cloud engineer, systems administrator, software developer, DevOps specialist, operations engineer, or similar role that required both software engineering as well as production infrastructure
- A minimum of 3 year of experience automating forward-facing, production applications using AWS services offerings including, but not limited to EC2, ECS & S3
- Experience with current scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash
- Experience maintaining and deploying highly available, fault-tolerant systems at scale
- Experience collaborating with cross functional global and remote teams with diverse backgrounds
- Technically hands on Linux, Unix and shell scripting.
- A drive towards automating repetitive tasks (e.g. scripting via Ruby, Python, Bash/zsh)
- Practical experience with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, as well as creating containerized applications for production delivery
- Strong verbal and written skills, high attention to detail
