POSITION NAME: Senior Scientist - Battery Cell Modelling Simulation


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Structural, mechanical, and electrochemical design simulation of cylindrical and prismatic cells.
  • Predict and understand the safety-related aspects of the Li-ion cells
  • Predict the performance of Li-ion cells under various working conditions, including cyclic aging, calendar aging, and electrochemical and thermal response at different temperatures and C-rates.
  • Design and conduct experiments to obtain the data or parameters required for cell modelling
  • Work with other departments and cross-functional teams to develop advanced empirical and mathematical models
  • Establish a standardized physical model of the cell to reduce the modelling time and resources.
  • File patents and documentation related to algorithm and model developments

QUALIFICATION

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or material Science or related areas with more than 5 years of experience or PhD in Li-ion battery research
  • Industrial experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must have basic knowledge on NewmanP2D model, thermal and mechanical model and analysis.
  • Experience in using the simulation software’s like Ansys, GT Suite, COMSOL etc., is must
  • Strong understanding of electrochemical principles, battery operation, and energy storage technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar for data analysis and model implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Prior experience in battery research, materials characterization, or experimental electrochemistry is preferred but not required.
