The Chapter Area Lead Full stack development - WRB Tech is a leadership role focussing on people development & capability building in front end (web & mobile) and back end technologies. The role is also accountable for defining the operating model of the Chapter area and also support capacity planning across Squads/ hives. The responsibilities details are: Strategy •Establish a catalogue of user interface components, drive standardization of user interfaces, proactively identify re-usable user interface assets and establish a delivery plan for re-usable assets. •Ensure consistency in design elements and layouts across different browsers, markets and devices. •Establish CI/CD pipeline for iOS, Android, HarmonyNext, web development & web content management including associated processes •Define technology strategy & roadmap to create micro services, re-usable APIs and its integration for platforms and applications across WRB. •Provide inputs in technology evaluations, RFPs related to back-end development •Establish a robust deployment topology to cater to critical non-functional requirements such as Zero down-time, blue-green deployments, graceful degradation of services in the event of catastrophic failures •Experienced former practitioner with leadership ability. •Oversees the execution of functional standards and best practices •Provide thought leadership on the craft, inspire and retain talents by developing and nurturing an extensive internal and external network of practitioners. •This role is around capability building, it is not to own applications or delivery •Creates a strategy roadmap of technical work •Works to drive technology convergence and simplification across their chapter area Business •Dedicated management role, is tech native, can understand technology down to a detailed level if needed •Responsible to evolve the craft towards improving automation, simplification and innovative use of latest market trends. •Scales the practices and capabilities across multiple hives i.e. mobile/front end experience across the app, driving consistency across skill domains, enabling scaling and consistency of skillsets and practices in partnership with the Hive Tech Leads Processes •Adopt and embed the Change Delivery Standards throughout the lifecycle of the product / service. •Ensure role, job descriptions and expectations are clearly set and periodic feedback provided to the chapter leads •Ensures the establishment of capability development systems across the chapter area, measuring and tracking the improvement of their chapter area members as well as chapter leads People & Talent •Accountable for people management and capability development of their Chapter members. •Reviews metrics on capabilities and performance across all of the Chapters in their area, has improvement backlog for their Chapters and drives continual improvement of Chapters. Risk Management •Responsible for effective capacity risk management across the Chapter Area with regards to attrition and leave plans. Regulatory & Governance •Ensure all artefacts and assurance deliverables are as per the required standards and policies (e.g., SCB Governance Standards, ESDLC, Corporate Group Plan etc.). Regulatory & Business Conduct •Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct. •Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct. •Lead the Digital Experience team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles •Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters. Key stakeholders •Global Head of Domain Delivery •Global Head of Platform Delivery •Global Head of WRB Digital •Chief Architect - WRB •Chief Product Owner(s) •CIO , WRB •WRB CISO •WRB COO Other Responsibilities •Embed Here for Good and Group's brand and values in the digital sales/commerce team •Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures Our Ideal Candidate•Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) •14+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language and framework (e.g., Java/Spring, Python/Django). •Solid understanding of database management systems, including both SQL and NoSQL databases •Expertise in performance engineering of distributed systems. •Proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C programming languages, with a deep understanding of iOS SDK, Kotlin (Android), and frameworks. •Strong understanding of iOS app architecture, design patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM), and best practices. •Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and ability to collaborate effectively with designers to create visually appealing and intuitive interfaces. •Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and other web technologies for data exchange. •Understanding of mobile app performance optimization techniques and tools. •Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs •Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, Bitbucket and CI / CD platforms like ADO, Jenkins •Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) •Ability to articulate the overall vision for the Chapters and ensure upskilling of the organisation holistically •Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team environment. •Experience with cross-platform development frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter) is a plus. •Contributions to open-source projects or participation in developer communities is a plus.Role Specific Technical Competencies Programming & Scripting (Java, Spring Boot, Javascript, Swift, Kotlin) Operating Systems - iOS, Android, Linux/Unix Network Fundamentals Security Fundamentals Database Development CI / CD Container platforms - Kubernetes, OCP, Podman About Standard CharteredWe're an international bank, nimble enough to act, big enough for impact.
