The Role:

We are seeking a Staff Engineer with deep technical expertise and a passion for building scalable, high-performance data platforms. This is a critical, hands-on role where you will lead the design and development of robust data integration and processing systems. You will work with cutting-edge technologies to architect solutions that solve complex challenges, ensure seamless data movement, and optimize processing pipelines. This position offers an opportunity to build a cloud-native deep-tech ELT product from the ground up, driving ownership across the entire development lifecycle.

What you'll do:

• Architect and Develop: Design and implement distributed, cloud-native data integration systems that handle massive datasets with efficiency and reliability.
• Optimize Performance: Drive the development of high-throughput, low-latency systems using non-blocking architectures and advanced concurrency techniques.
• Innovation in Tech: Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve performance, scalability, and reliability of the platform.
• System Ownership: Own the end-to-end development lifecycle, from architecture to deployment, including monitoring and operational excellence.
• Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, and data science teams to deliver seamless and impactful data solutions.
• Code Quality: Conduct deep-dive code reviews and ensure adherence to the highest standards of software engineering excellence.
• Mentorship: Lead technical discussions and mentor engineers to foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment.

What you will bring:

• Experience: 8+ years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and large-scale data platforms.
• Programming Mastery: Proficiency in one or more core programming languages: Java, Python, Go, or C++.
• Distributed Systems Expertise: Deep understanding of distributed architectures, data integration frameworks, and concurrency models.
• Data Processing: Experience with open-source processing engines such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, or similar.
• Database Knowledge: Expertise in SQL, NoSQL databases, and familiarity with database replication, backups, and distributed query engines.
• Advanced Engineering: Hands-on experience with building systems like distributed file systems, streaming platforms, non-blocking I/O, or distributed caching layers.
• Cloud Proficiency: Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Problem-Solving: Proven ability to tackle complex technical challenges, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and system optimization.
• Technical Leadership: Demonstrated track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering high-quality projects on time.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with ELT/ETL products and pipelines.
• Contributions to open-source projects in the data engineering domain.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills with tools for performance monitoring and optimization.
