Android Frameworks EngineerRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Android Frameworks Engineer to design, develop, and optimize core Android system components and frameworks. You will work at the intersection of AOSP, system services, HALs, and application layers, enabling new features, improving performance, and ensuring reliability of the Android platform.Key Responsibilities- Design and extend Android frameworks (Activity Manager, Window Manager, Power Manager, etc.). - Implement and optimize system services and Binder IPC mechanisms. - Integrate custom HALs and expose new hardware features through the Android framework. - Debug and resolve issues in framework services, JNI layers, and native daemons. - Profile and optimize boot time, memory usage, power consumption, and responsiveness. - Implement robust error handling, watchdogs, and recovery strategies. - Enable new platform features for connectivity, multimedia, sensors, and camera subsystems. - Support Android security frameworks (permissions model, SELinux, secure IPC). - Collaborate with app developers to expose framework APIs and ensure smooth adoption. - Work with BSP/kernel teams to ensure proper integration between framework and HAL layers. - Partner with product teams to deliver custom Android features aligned with requirements. - Collaborate with QA and DevOps to set up automated tests for framework features.Required Skills & Experience- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field. - Experience: 3–5 years in Android frameworks development.Technical Skills:- Strong knowledge of Android internals (AOSP, frameworks, services, system server, JNI). - Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and C/C++ for Android framework and native layers. - Hands-on experience with Binder IPC, HAL integration, and System Services. - Good understanding of Linux kernel concepts, device drivers, and debugging. - Familiarity with Android build system (Soong/Make), debugging tools (adb, systrace, logcat). - Knowledge of Android security model (permissions, SELinux, keystore).Good to Have- Experience with Android Automotive OS or embedded Android devices. - Knowledge of graphics stack (SurfaceFlinger, HWComposer, OpenGL/ Vulkan). - Exposure to connectivity frameworks (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, telephony). - Understanding of power management frameworks (wakelocks, doze, suspend/resume). - Contributions to AOSP or custom ROMs.Soft Skills- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. - Ability to work across teams (kernel, HAL, apps). - Clear communication and documentation skills.Why Join Us?- Opportunity to work deep inside Android internals and influence system design. - Be part of a team building next-gen platforms for automotive - Exposure to cutting-edge SoCs, hardware platforms, and Android innovations.
