Youwill be a part of the larger Global Technology organization workingon Nike’s internal Consumer Product & Innovation tools, part ofour Engineering team and report to the team’s EngineeringDirector. You will spend much of your time with SoftwareEngineers in CPI Engineering and adjacent teams.  You willalso partner closely with other Principal Engineers, SolutionArchitects, Engineering Directors, and Product Managers in bothProduct Innovation and otherdepartments.

WHOWE ARE LOOKINGFOR

We’relooking for a Principal Engineer to solve complex softwareengineering problems supporting Nike’s pursuit of delivering stateof the art tools to our product developers and broader creationcommunity. The candidate needs to be highly collaborative withpeers, productive in a fast-paced development environment and havedepth of native cloud software engineeringexperience.

WHATYOU’LL WORK ON

If this isyou, you’ll be working on the Consumer Product Innovation team andbe one of the primary technical leaders on one of Nike’s emergingtechnology platforms.  In a typical week, half of your timewill be spent leading by example to design, develop, operate, andintegrate Nike and partner platforms and applications. The otherhalf will be leadership responsibilities to drive technicalpriorities, define engineering best practices, collaborate withpeers, and help to translate business problems into technicalsolutions.

  • Excellent computerscience fundamentals, including algorithms and datastructures

  • 14+years of software engineering experience as an individualcontributor developing customsoftware

  • 5+ years hands-onexperience implementing and supporting modern softwarearchitectural principles and patterns (REST, domain-driven design,Devops, microservices,etc)

  • 5+ years hands onexperience with distributed cloud systems (node.js, Python, EC2,Lambda, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, or Google Cloud/Azureequivalents) 

  • Experiencewith front-end web application technologies (javascript, CSS,html5, Vue, React/redux,etc.)

  • Experience with 3Dcomputer graphics developmentpreferred.

  • Experience withimplementing and integrating AI, Machine Learning and related datasolutionspreferred.

  • Continuousdeployment and automated testingexperience

  • Excellentinfluencing, verbal and written communicationskills

  • Demonstrated abilityto build and maintain relationships with multiple peers andcross-functionalpartners 

  • Responsiblefor staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements infrontend development. You continuously evaluate new tools,frameworks, and techniques, and assess their potential impact onthe team's productivity and the quality of the finalproduct.

  • Experience workingin a technical leadership role with agile teams in a productmodel

  • Experience developing,monitoring, and supporting highly available services andapplications 

  • Experiencein leadership and mentorship, including a track record of settingtechnical standards, providing guidance, and ensuring thesuccessful delivery ofprojects.

  • Experience workingin a technical leadership role with agile teams in a productmodel

  • Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science or Engineering, or equivalentexperience
