As part of our expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Chartered Shipping Desk and establish a world-class global chartering division.About the Role:The Head Chartered Shipping Desk will be responsible for leading global charter operations for sea and air transport, managing high-value defence and DG cargo movements, negotiating with vessel owners and operators, and ensuring full compliance with international regulations. This strategic role demands strong leadership, commercial acumen, and extensive industry experience to drive business growth and operational Lead and manage global chartering operations for air and sea shipments across defence and DG cargo categories.- Negotiate, finalize, and execute charter contracts with ship owners, brokers, and operators (Charter Party, COA, Time Charter, ACMI/Wet/Dry Lease).- Develop and maintain a global network of shipowners, airlines, charter brokers, and logistics partners.- Ensure strict compliance with IMDG, IATA, ICAO, DGCA, and IMO regulations for dangerous goods handling and movement.- Drive P&L ownership for the chartering division, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency.- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance chartering and operations team.- Collaborate with defence clients, aerospace manufacturers, and government entities to secure business opportunities.- Monitor global freight markets, vessel/aircraft availability, and rate trends for strategic decision-making.- Develop proposals, pricing models, and commercial strategies for charter bids and tenders.- Oversee contract administration, risk management, and claims handling.- Coordinate closely with operations, legal, and compliance teams for seamless execution.- Represent the company in industry forums, trade shows, and regulatory discussions.Skillsets & Competencies:- Deep knowledge of sea and air chartering operations and international logistics.- Expertise in Charter Party agreements, COA, Time Charter, and ACMI contracts.- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with proven deal-closure experience.- In-depth understanding of defence logistics and dangerous goods (DG Class 1) handling.- Excellent understanding of DGCA, IMO, ICAO, IATA, and IMDG compliance frameworks.- Strong leadership, team-building, and people management abilities.- Analytical mindset for freight rate benchmarking and market analysis.- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and client engagement skills.- Global networking ability with shipowners, operators, and government bodies.- Proven track record of driving P&L ownership and strategic business expansion.- Bachelors or Masters degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Marine Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).Why Join Us- Lead and build a new global chartering division from the ground up.- Work on mission-critical, high-value defence logistics projects with global exposure.- Be part of a rapidly growing company at the forefront of Defence & Aerospace logistics innovation.
