Job Description: Studio Manager - Retail


Position Overview:

The Studio Manager for Catalogue and Product Photoshoots is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire studio operations, ensuring the seamless execution of photoshoots for product catalogues, e-commerce platforms, and marketing campaigns. This role involves coordinating with creative teams, photographers, stylists, and clients to deliver high-quality visual content that aligns with brand standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Studio Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily studio operations, ensuring all equipment and facilities are maintained and functioning efficiently.
  • Liaising with modeling agencies to secure suitable models for photoshoots, coordinating shoot schedules, and ensuring seamless synchronization with the entire studio team.
  • Manage the studio schedule, allocating resources for photoshoots and other creative activities.

Photoshoot Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with clients, photographers, and creative teams to plan and execute product and catalogue photoshoots.
  • Supervise shoot logistics, including setting up equipment, lighting, props, and backdrops.
  • Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and visual standards during shoots.

Team Coordination:

  • Lead a team of photographers, stylists, editors, and assistants to deliver high-quality output.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities, providing guidance to team members for optimal performance.

Creative Direction:

  • Work closely with creative directors and marketing teams to align photoshoots with campaign goals.
  • Provide input on styling, composition, and visual storytelling to enhance content quality.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Manage studio budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
  • Procure and maintain photography equipment, props, and other necessary materials.

Quality Control:

  • Review and approve final images, ensuring they meet project specifications and brand standards.
  • Implement feedback from clients or stakeholders to refine the output.
  1. Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients during studio projects, addressing their requirements and concerns.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure repeat business and client satisfaction.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of shoot schedules, budgets, and project deliverables.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on studio performance and project progress.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Media Production, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in similar industry.
  • Proven experience in studio management, product photography, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of photography techniques, lighting, and post-production workflows.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or Capture One.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in e-commerce or retail photography.
  • Knowledge of trends in visual merchandising and catalogue design.
  • Familiarity with video production for product showcases is a plus.
