Role Overview:
The Retired Railway Officer will serve as a strategic advisor for MVVS's railway and infrastructure projects. With in-depth knowledge of railway operations, project approvals, tendering, and execution, the officer will provide guidance in planning, stakeholder coordination, compliance, and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution:
- - Advise on railway-related project works (track, signaling, electrification, bridges, station development, etc.).
- - Guide project teams on technical standards, IR codes, and operational procedures.
- - Support in resolving on-site project execution challenges with railway authorities.
- Stakeholder Management:
- - Liaise with railway officials, consultants, and government departments for project clearances.
- - Act as a bridge between MVVS and Indian Railways to ensure smooth coordination.
- - Participate in client meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.
- Tendering & Business Development:
- - Support tendering team with railway-specific insights, cost estimation, and bid preparation.
- - Advise on eligibility, contract conditions, and compliance for railway tenders.
- - Leverage past experience and network to strengthen MVVS's chances of winning contracts.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- - Ensure projects comply with Indian Railway standards, RDSO guidelines, and statutory norms.
- - Identify project risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
- - Provide expert inputs on safety, quality, and operational protocols.
- Mentoring & Training:
- - Mentor junior engineers and project staff on railway systems and procedures.
- - Share knowledge of railway project lifecycle, tendering, and execution practices.
- - Build an internal knowledge base for long-term organizational learning.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Retired Senior Officer from Indian Railways (preferably from IRSE, IRSME, IRSSE, IRSEE, or equivalent).
- Minimum 25+ years of railway project experience (construction, maintenance, or operations).
- Proven track record of handling large-scale projects (tracks, bridges, electrification, signaling, station modernization, etc.).
- Strong network and credibility with railway authorities.
Key Skills:
- Deep knowledge of Indian Railway codes, manuals, and approval procedures.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship management.
- Strong advisory and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to guide project teams with practical solutions.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
Engagement Type:
- Consultancy / Advisory Role (Full-time or Part-time depending on project needs).
- Contractual engagement (1–3 years) with renewal option.
- Compensation to be mutually agreed based on expertise and involvement.
