Senior Manager Taxation
Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager for Taxation (DT & IDT) to lead our taxation team.
- He/She will manage company's direct and indirect tax functions.
- This role requires strong financial acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to optimize tax liabilities while ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws.
- Analyze and interpret various direct and indirect tax laws (corporate tax, GST) to provide strategic insights and ensure tax efficiency in business decisions.
Tax Law Advisory:
- Keep the organization informed about the implications of current and upcoming direct and indirect tax laws on business processes and decisions.
- Act as an internal consultant, providing guidance to departments on tax-related queries and implications of transactions.
Engagement with Tax Authorities:
- Act as the primary liaison between the organization and tax authorities for all assessments, audits, and inquiries.
- Handle queries, assessments, and audits initiated by tax authorities to ensure accurate representation of the organization.
- Draft and submit timely, well-prepared responses to notices and inquiries from tax authorities, minimizing potential risks and penalties.
Collaboration with External Advisors:
- Work closely with external tax consultants, legal advisors, and auditors to resolve tax issues.
- Leverage external expertise to address tax disputes and implement recommendations for strategic tax planning.
Tax Compliance Management:
- Ensure accurate and timely computation, payment, and filing of tax returns for all applicable direct and indirect taxes, including corporate tax, GST, and TDS.
- Manage assessments and appeals related to tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory timelines.
Tax Audit and Certification:
- Coordinate and oversee tax audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and timely submission of reports and certifications.
- Manage certification for transfer pricing in compliance with statutory guidelines, ensuring accuracy and alignment with regulations.
TDS Management:
- Oversee the complete TDS process, including deduction, timely deposit, and accurate filing of TDS returns.
- Manage TDS-related assessments, appeals, and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Address TDS-related queries from internal stakeholders and ensure proper documentation.
Risk Mitigation and Compliance Monitoring:
- Identify potential tax risks and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure tax compliance and minimize exposure to penalties or litigation.
- Conduct regular reviews of tax compliance processes to ensure adherence to best practices.
Required Competencies:
- Proficiency in treasury management principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and systems.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to think strategically and provide insights to support business growth and profitability.
- Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and driving change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google sheets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant + LLB with 5-6 years post qualification experience in handling litigations or Semi Qualified CA with 9-10 years experience, preferably in the internet or technology industry + Master's/Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
