This role focuses on mechanical and electrical design of robotic systems and applications, working closely with vendors and suppliers to bring innovative concepts to reality.Core Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical and electrical systemsfor autonomous ground and underwater robotic platforms, including structural components, actuator systems, and power distribution networks. Create detailed CAD models and technical drawingsusing industry-standard software for mechanical assemblies, electrical layouts, and system integration. Design and specify electromechanical componentsincluding motors, actuators, sensors, controllers, and power systems for robotic applications. Collaborate with vendors and suppliersfor component sourcing, technical specifications, and application development support throughout the design and manufacturing process. Develop prototypesand conduct testing of mechanical and electrical subsystems to validate design concepts and performance requirements. Integrate mechanical, electrical, and electronic componentsinto cohesive robotic systems ensuring optimal functionality and reliability. Prepare comprehensive technical documentationincluding design specifications, assembly instructions, BOM (Bill of Materials), and vendor communication records. Support manufacturing and assembly processesby working closely with production teams and external partners to ensure design intent is maintained.Requirements Bachelor's degree inMechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. 1–2 years' experiencein mechanical and electrical design, preferably in robotics, automation, or mechatronic systems. Strong CAD proficiencyusing SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar software for 3D modeling and technical drawing creation. Understanding of mechanical engineering principlesincluding statics, dynamics, materials science, and design for manufacturing (DFM). Knowledge of electrical systems designincluding circuit design, power distribution, motor control, and electronic component selection. Experience withelectromechanical system integrationand understanding of sensors, actuators, and control interfaces. Hands-on prototyping experiencewith fabrication techniques, assembly processes, and testing methodologies. Familiarity withGD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)and engineering drawing standards. Understanding ofrobotics fundamentalsincluding kinematics, motion control, and system architecture. Strong communication skillsfor effective vendor interaction and technical documentation. Excellentproblem-solving abilitiesand attention to detail in design and analysis work.Preferred Experience Experience interacting with vendorsfor application development, component sourcing, and technical collaboration will be a significant advantage. Background inautonomous systems,mobile robotics, orunderwater vehicle design. Familiarity withmanufacturing processesincluding machining, welding, and electronic assembly. Knowledge ofindustry standardsandregulatory requirementsfor defence or marine applications. Experience withFEA (Finite Element Analysis)orsimulation softwarefor design validation. Understanding ofPCB designandembedded systems integration.
