KEY ACTIVITIES/

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as part of a team developing applications and services using Agile development methods
  • Write unit tests and integration tests for all new features and changes
  • Contribute to team and organizational improvements in process and infrastructure
  • Build, fix and improve back-end services for use by progressive web applications, android applications and data analysis
  • Build, fix and improve front-end applications writing with TypeScript and React
  • Code, test and operate Node based services with TypeScript
  • Effectively use tools and ingenuity to identify and fix defects before they become a problem
  • Work on deployment of code and services to a Kubernetes cluster running in the cloud

QUALIFICATIONS-Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent practical experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience as a full-stack developer, including at least 2 years as a Node Developer and at least 2 years as a React developer using react hooks
  • Expert in Node, preferably with good experience in TypeScript
  • Must be familiar with NoSQL databases (e.g., CouchDB) and SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), web services, SOA patterns and functional programming
  • Good working knowledge on design patterns
  • Hands on experience with REST APIs and ideally also GraphQL (we're using apollo server and apollo client)
  • Must have good unit and integration testing experience using a node library such as mocha or jest (preferred) and a front-end testing library such as react-testing-library (preferred)
  • Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure (preferred)
    • Experience with an Infrastructure as Code solution (e.g, Terraform or Pulumi ) to deploy to a Kubernetes cluster
  • Python including statically typed python (e.g., mypy) would be good to have, along with ETL experience
  • Experience with MQTT would be good to have.
