Overview:

To oversee video, text and strategy for the Malayalam operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in a news agency, news channels, newspaper or digital news.
• Lead the editorial team in planning, coordinating, and executing news coverage.
• Develop & maintain content calendar to ensure timely & comprehensive coverage of news events.
• Monitor news trends and stay updated on current events to identify relevant stories.
• Have deep knowledge about political affairs, current affairs, breaking news and bulletins.
• Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and other team members to produce high-quality news content.
• Ensure that all content meets ethical and legal standards of journalism.
• Coordinate with the digital team to optimize content for online platforms and social media.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to junior reporters and editorial staff.
• Work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Engage with the audience through various channels to understand their needs and preferences.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Journalism/Mass Communication from a reputed university/institute.
• Proven experience as a news editor or in a similar editorial role.
• Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in digital journalism and familiarity with content management systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A keen understanding of the media landscape and current affairs.
• Experience in managing a team and providing editorial direction.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and social media strategies is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
