Job Title:API Engineer Experience:5–7 YearsJob Summary: We are looking for an experienced API Engineerwith 5–7 years of hands-on experience in designing, building, and securing scalable APIs. The ideal candidate is passionate about API-first design, skilled in RESTful API development on OpenShift, and has a strong understanding of modern API security protocols. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and reusable APIs that power our enterprise applications.Key Responsibilities: Design and deploy RESTful APIsusing OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, followingAPI-first principlesand scalable design practices. Build and manage APIs deployed onOpenShift , ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability. Implement secure authentication and authorizationfor APIs usingOAuth2, JWT, and mTLSto ensure secure and compliant access. Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to define API requirements, versioning, and contracts. EnsureAPI governance , consistency, and documentation standards across the organization. Participate incode reviews ,performance tuning , andsecurity assessmentsof API implementations. Monitor API usage, performance, and error rates, implementing observability best practices. Work in Agile teams and contribute to continuous improvement of development and deployment processes.Must-Have Skills: Strong experience indesigning and developing RESTful APIsusingOpenAPI/Swaggerspecifications. Proficient inAPI-first development practiceswith a focus on scalability, reusability, and clean architecture. Hands-on experience deploying APIs onOpenShiftor Kubernetes platforms. Deep understanding ofAPI security protocols , includingOAuth2, JWT (JSON Web Tokens) , andmutual TLS (mTLS) . Proficient in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, Go) used to build APIs. Solid knowledge ofHTTP, REST, and microservices principles . Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated API deployment.Good-to-Have Skills: Experience withAPI gateways(e.g., Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or 3scale). Familiarity withevent-driven APIs(e.g., Webhooks, Kafka-based patterns). Experience withAPI versioning and lifecycle management . Knowledge ofrate limiting, throttling, and caching strategiesfor APIs. Exposure tocloud platforms(AWS) and serverless API implementations. Understanding ofOpenID Connect , SAML, and other federated identity protocols. Familiarity withobservability tools(e.g., Grafana, ELK Stack).
