Role Overview

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Drafter will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans that are essential for the design and construction of various oil and gas facilities. This role specifically requires expertise in electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring the accurate representation of complex systems critical to project success.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and the ability to:


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for electrical and instrumentation systems, including equipment layouts, wiring diagrams, and control schematics, using CAD software like AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Create and modify technical drawings based on engineering specifications and requirements, with a focus on instrumentation and electrical designs.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, codes (e.g., IEC, NEC), and company procedures.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and interdisciplinary teams to gather information, resolve drafting challenges, and ensure accurate designs.
  • Review and interpret engineering designs, sketches, and specifications to ensure precise representation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide input on drafting-related matters and collaborate effectively with the project team.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on all drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations applicable to electrical and instrumentation systems in oil and gas projects.
  • Ensure all drafting work adheres to established quality assurance and control procedures.
  • Manage and maintain a comprehensive library of drawings, ensuring proper storage, organization, and accessibility.
  • Update drawings to reflect design changes or revisions as projects progress.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for project approvals, permits, and stakeholder submissions.


Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: Associate's degree or diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of drafting experience, with a strong emphasis on electrical and instrumentation systems in the oil and gas sector.
  • Proficiency in 2D drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) and and basic knowledge of 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, NAVIS).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical standards (IEC, NEC) and instrumentation codes relevant to the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering specifications, P&IDs, and control system layouts.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with engineers and project stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale oil and gas projects, including hazardous area installations and offshore systems.
  • Certification in electrical drafting or instrumentation design tools.
