A leading Chinese oil and gas company expanding operations into the Middle East is seeking a seasoned Project Director to spearhead large-scale projects in the region. The role requires a leader adept at navigating the complexities of Middle Eastern markets, managing cross-cultural teams, and ensuring successful project execution that aligns with both corporate and regional standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies.
  • Develop and implement project frameworks tailored to Middle Eastern industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Chinese headquarters to align regional initiatives with global corporate objectives.
  • Ensure projects comply with Middle Eastern legal, environmental, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Build local partnerships with governments, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive initiatives to establish the company’s reputation as a reliable operator in the region.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables across engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Implement rigorous risk management strategies to address challenges specific to Middle Eastern projects, such as supply chain complexities or geopolitical factors.
  • Ensure seamless handover of completed projects to operations teams.
  • Serve as the primary interface with local clients, contractors, and joint venture partners.
  • Build relationships with local and international stakeholders to secure long-term partnerships.
  • Facilitate clear communication between regional teams and Chinese headquarters.
  • Manage multicultural teams, bridging cultural and communication gaps between Chinese and Middle Eastern stakeholders.
  • Promote collaboration and alignment between regional offices, local contractors, and expatriate staff.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are preferred.
  • 15+ years in the oil and gas sector, including upstream, midstream, or downstream projects.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar projects in the Middle East.
  • Experience working for or collaborating with Chinese firms is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • In-depth knowledge of Middle Eastern oil and gas regulations and standards (e.g., ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, or QatarEnergy guidelines).
